Thank you to everyone that was praying for our Northwood Student Ministry team this weekend. We had a great retreat. The six of us needed some time away to dig down and listen close to what we believe God wants to do with our church. I had high expectations and lofty goals to accomplish during the course of the retreat. I'm happy to report that I am extremely satisfied and encouraged with the progress we made. We...
- Developed our mission statement.
- Determined our core values.
- Organized our staff structure.
- Had open and honest conversation about our inter-staff relationship.
- Had healthy debate about ministry.
- Killed an out dated ministry name.
- Took big steps toward new environment names.
- Identified areas of weakness and strength.
- Prayed together a lot.
- Ate like kings.
- Watched me give lessons on Bocce Ball (6-0 through the weekend)
- Invented a new outdoor game (2012 Olympics: Whiffle-stick-cricket)
- Broke in my new Poker set.
- Prayed for our leaders, students and family.
- Prayed for our Pastor and leaders.
- Played a wicked close game of Scene-It (my second loss of all time).
Thank you to Rahel for making a special guest appearance. We'll miss you this fall. Thank you to Kevin, Sarah, AJ, Bill and Brian for respecting, trusting and supporting me through all of the unknown. I can't wait to see what God does in our midst. As for me, I've got two days with my family before I leave to speak in South Georgia for a couple of days. I need to play with my girls but I feel as though I'll be looking like this for the majority of the time.
Sorry, is that an iphone or a remote control on your shoulder?
Glad you guys had a good retreat and you're getting a lot done with the job. Sounds like an awesome place for you. We still miss you, though.
