I Am Blessed
Well, strike one on the house. Totally not complaining though. Our house just didn’t work out for that family. We still believe God is capable of selling this house easily and quickly.
As we pray and pack I keep reminding myself of Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah as they replied to King Nebuchadnezzar. (By the way, those are the Jewish names for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. I’ve never understood why we refer to Daniel by his Jewish name and the other three by their Babylonian names.)
“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. “But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
We are expecting God to act on our behalf. But if He chooses not to, we will not question His timing. I think that’s the problem so many Christians have. They filter their perception of God through circumstances instead of filtering circumstances through God. I’ve been so guilty of that. (I’m still a little bitter about not having any girlfriends in High School…I’m sure I’ll get over it eventually.)
Perspective for me right now is that I work at an incredible church. I’m going to be working at an incredible church. God has allowed us to own a home for three years. He has provided a place for us to live in Charlotte. My wife and daughters are healthy and amazing. I’ve got family, friends and people I don’t even know yet praying for me. I am healthy and have the opportunity to serve God for a living. I am blessed. Now it’s my turn to blessback.
